Robot Vacuum Cleaners have been available to consumers since 2002 really when iRobot released their highly successful Roomba which has now sold around 2.5 million units worldwide. Robotic vacuum cleaners have created from our desire to automate as much as possible. There has been a cultural shift away from working and more towards life balance and leisure activities. People have realised that living to work is not what life should be about. Most people no longer have to work to live in the same way past generations did. We have spare time and we like to make the most of it. As women have moved away from the traditional stay at home mom roles and commonly juggle careers with bringing up children they have less time for cleaning. Enter the robot vacuum cleaner.
